Depending on where you live, the fish can contain mercury, and are not advisable to eat more than 5 every month. If you live in more natral surrounds and not near the city, you can probably eat more. If you live far north, like in Alaska, or the Yukon territory of Canada, you can probably eat as many as you want. But if you live in the popular states, you shouldn't be eating too many of them unless you are fishing from a creek you know is natral and untouched. This shouldn't discourage you from fishing though. If you love fishing, you will still do it for the sport, and not always for the eating. I still love the thrill of the tugging on the line when a fish is on. And always remeber, HAVE FUN!

Cooking your fish.
There are a couple ways to cook your fish. I will use trout as an example. A simple, tastey, way to cook your fish is just reading the following steps:
1. Get shake and bake- Just toss your freshly caught trout into a bag of shake and bake and start shaking. It will bread the fish and make it pretty darn tastey.
2. Cook the fish- Put some olive oil on what ever you cooking on and put the fish on. Just shuffle him around and get him cooked all over and all the way through.
3. Ketchup- I like to eat the trout then with some ketchup. You can buy it yourself, or just go somewhere like Burger King, ORDER SOMETHING, and take some extra ketchup when you leave.
4. Enjoy!

Fire used to cook your fish.
Once you have your fish cleaned or fillet, you are ready to start cooking. You need to prepare a fire before you start cooking so put that fish on some ice or have this done before hand. Your going to want to make a fire that will burn hot and quick. If you don't have much time, just start up a teepee fire or any fire that you can make and sustain and just have the flames lick the bottom of the fish. Make sure the fish is nice and cooked as the fish can contain bacteria and diseases; so have it atleast 212 degrees F. If you do have time, however, start a teepee and feed it well. Have it hot and feed it for atleast 30 min with bigger logs as you go along. Then let the fire go out by itself. Once its HOT embers, put the fish on the grill/stove or just wrap it in some foil and just throw her in. You should be able to cook em in less then 10 min with sed fire.

The knife you should be using to do such things.
A fillet knife is preferable. Any knife can work though really. I've filled sunfish with a 2 inch pocket knife and it worked fine. Just make sure your knife is sharp. The sharper the knife, the safer and the quicker you will get it done. A kitchen knife will work fine. I don't know how well a serated knife will work. Make sure the knife is deciantly tought too; you don't want a knife that will buckle under pressure when you are trying to cut through the fish bones and skin. If you are having trouble finding a suitable knife, I picked up a very nice wood-handles fish fillet knife coming with is own leather case made in Ireland for about $13.00 at Walmart.

How to gut/clean a fish.
For the longest time, I did not know how to clean a fish. I would go fishing with my family, we would catch and release (Which is totally OK), but I never how to clean the fish in order to keep them. Here is a simple guide I have learned to do so:
1. Kill the fish- There are a couple ways to do this. The way I feel is most just is to simply hit the fish's head with a rock or branch; it will concuss it and will not feel a thing. Or you can cut its head off, but I like to keep it on as it will help when you are cooking to see when the eye balls get white. Lastly, you can just put your knife throught he skull into the brain, which will kill it immetiatly
2. Let's get cutting!- Start at the rectum (the hole right about the tail on the belly of the fish), and cut up to the head/gills.
3. Take out anything that is there that isn't the fish itselt. There is going to be all the oragans and anything the fish was eating in there.
4. Brushing- There is going to be a black/brown line at the bottom of the cavity you just made. Take your finger or a toothbrush and get rid of all that completely. It is poop and and blood. There could be bacteria in it.
5.Clean up- The only thing left is just to cut fins if you don't want them and to just rinse everything really good.
